About this water

The main stream system of central La Vera, flowing south from the Sierra de Gredos through Jarandilla de la Vera, Cuacos de Yuste, and Jaraíz de la Vera. Four sin muerte tramos: the upper Pedro Chate (from Lago de Jaraíz dam wall to Molino de los Mínguez), the Jaranda–Pedro Chate reach (Puente Jaranda to road EX-392), the middle Pedro Chate (confluence with Garganta de Cuacos to junction with Garganta Jaranda), and Garganta de Cuacos (Puente Nuevo to Puente de Valfrío). Granitic gorge water with pools, cascades, and fast pocket runs. Wild brown trout, catch-and-release, barbless single-hook artificial bait only. Season: 3rd Sunday of March to 31 July. Technical wade-and-hop fishing with tight-line nymphing and small dries.
