About this water

A steep Ribeira Sacra trout river falling from the Courel mountains to the Sil through some of Galicia's most dramatic terraced-vineyard country. The Lor is essentially mountain trout water — pocket-pool sequences, broken bedrock, narrow access. Wild brown trout, sometimes wonderfully marked. Best fished from the bridge crossings between Quiroga and Folgoso do Courel from late spring through to early July; the high tributaries above 700 m hold up later.
