A rich limestone river and callows system on the Offaly–Tipperary border draining to the Shannon near Lough Derg. Wild brown trout, plus a croneen (Lough Derg migratory trout) run especially associated with the Little Brosna/Camcor system from July onwards.
EPA river-invertebrate monitoring confirms mayflies, stoneflies, caddis, aquatic diptera and freshwater crustaceans (including native white-clawed crayfish) are present across the Little Brosna's monitored segments. This is food-presence evidence only and doesn't establish emergence timing or the strength of any hatch.
