Dave Shipman's static film buzzer — slender dubbed body with white Antron breathing filaments at head and tail, no hackle, no wing. Grease the leader to within a foot of the fly, cast it out, and leave it. The fly hangs vertically in the film exactly as the natural pupa does, going nowhere, waiting.

Fish this when

Glass-calm conditions on any stillwater when trout are head-and-tailing — Grafham, Rutland, Bewl, Chew, or any quiet flat. Long leader, maximum patience. The take is a gentle draw.

Why it works

The Antron filaments mimic the breathing tubes of a chironomid pupa trapped in the surface tension. The absence of a CDC wing keeps the silhouette uncluttered — cleaner than the Shuttlecock in flat calm.
