Choosing a colour
Starting points, not rules — depth, presentation and size usually matter more.
Begin with the plain peacock/brown original in clear water. Use black or claret under cloud or when fishing deeper; pearl or green holographic in brighter conditions; red holographic or a fluorescent head in cold or coloured water. On pressured water, try removing the flash before endlessly changing colour.
