The Wigwam is a remote, gin-clear cutthroat jewel in the East Kootenay — big, perfect native westslope cutthroat in water you can sight-fish, and a vital bull-trout spawning river. It opens in mid-June and fishes through October, reached by rough roads into wild country. This is a sensitive stronghold: fish it lightly, release everything, and respect the bull-trout closures.
