The last big event of the western season, and a welcome one: a large orange sedge on cold October afternoons when the rest of the river has gone quiet. The pupa crawls toward the bank to emerge rather than hatching mid-river, so the margins and the shallow edges are where this happens — fish tight to the bank, not out in the current.
