About this water

The Castle is lively, clear freestone water in Alberta's far southwest, draining the Castle parks and holding native westslope cutthroat, bull trout and some rainbows. Flashy with snowmelt early, it becomes fine dry-fly water through summer and autumn among the high peaks and aspen. Late June through October, catch-and-release on the natives.

The Castle drains the wild country of the Castle parks in Alberta's far southwest — a clear, lively freestone of riffles and pools holding native westslope cutthroat and bull trout with some rainbows. Snow-fed and flashy in early summer, it settles into excellent dry-fly water through the warmer months in a setting of high peaks and aspen foothills.
