The Toccoa below Blue Ridge Dam is north Georgia's other big tailwater, fifteen miles of cold release water from the TVA dam down to McCaysville, where it crosses into Tennessee and becomes the Ocoee. The US Fish and Wildlife Service hatchery stocks it hard with rainbows, by truck at the parks and by barge along the private middle stretch. Most of the bank is private, so fish from Tammen Park, Curtis Switch and Horseshoe Bend, or float it. TVA generation can make it unwadeable in minutes, and late-summer releases have warmed in the past, so watch the schedule and the season.
