How to fish it · for grayling
When
Autumn through November is prime. The Noce's grayling fish well in cold meltwater; check the regional FIPSAS season dates.
Where
Faster gravel runs and the heads of riffles in the middle and lower river. Deeper glide tails as autumn cold pushes fish deeper.
Method
Euro-nymphing primary — Perdigons and small dropper nymphs through the pocket water. Switch to dries when sedges or olives come off in autumn afternoons.
Kit
10 ft #3 nymphing rod, 4 to 5 lb fluoro tippet; 9 ft #4 for dries. 12 ft leader. Studded boots.
