About this water

The Nadiža rises in Italy, crosses briefly into Slovenia, and returns to Italy, leaving RD Tolmin just 11.9 km of it to manage — but that short reach runs markedly warmer and lower than the Soča a few valleys over, which makes it a genuinely different fishability window rather than a smaller version of the same river. Marble and hybrid trout share the water with grayling, rainbow trout, and — this being a border river with Italian water immediately downstream — Italian barbel, chub and nase drifting through. It fishes low and clear for longer into summer than the Soča does, which is either useful or irrelevant depending on when you're planning the trip.
