A small Iveragh spate system around Caherdaniel and Glenmore Lake, on the Ring of Kerry. It is sea trout you are chiefly here for, with a few grilse besides, and both run on a rise of water. For 2026 the system is catch-and-release. Local permits at Caherdaniel and around the Iveragh; carry the Salmon and Sea Trout State Licence.
EPA freshwater monitoring on the Glenmore (Caherdaniel) confirms mayflies, stoneflies, caddis, aquatic diptera and freshwater crustaceans are present. This is riverbed food-presence evidence, not a record of emergence timing or a visible hatch.
