Cloonlaghlin is an upper lough in the Waterville system — quiet water above the main fishery, where sea trout and salmon rest after running up through Currane. Boat only; bank fishing is not an option here. Access is through the Waterville/Currane arrangements — confirm locally before travelling, as the management situation is currently in flux. The fish here are not the target of the serious Currane angler, which means they are occasionally less wary than they should be. For 2026 this remains an open fishery — salmon may be retained in season under the Wild Salmon & Sea Trout Tagging Scheme and bag limits, with catch-and-release at other times.
