Marginal — persistence required
River temperature is the limiting factor today, not the flow. Fish the cool of dawn or dusk, land fish fast, and stop if one struggles to recover.

About this water

A remote spate river on the Erris peninsula of north Mayo, lying apart from the Owenmore to its south. This is flood fishing in wild country: grilse and sea trout run on a rise of water, and there is little point being here without one. For 2026 the river is catch-and-release for salmon and sea trout. Enquire with IFI Ballina, and carry the Salmon and Sea Trout State Licence.

Hatches & food

EPA monitoring of the Glenamoy River's WFD reaches confirms mayflies, stoneflies, caddis, aquatic diptera and gammarus are present. This is food-presence evidence from kick sampling only, with no confirmed emergence timing or visible hatch.
