When
Through the Lombardy trout season — spring hatches build through the afternoon, sedges carry summer evenings, small dark flies matter into autumn. Glacial melt from the Adamello keeps flows elevated and cold through high summer.
Where
Pocket water and broken riffles in the upper valley above Vezza d'Oglio, opening into longer runs and glides as the valley widens toward Cedegolo and Darfo.
Method
Upstream nymph through the broken water; dry fly in the calmer glides once fish are looking up. No-Kill zones mandate artificials and barbless hooks — comply or fish elsewhere.
Kit
9 to 10 ft #4 for medium Alpine freestone. Floating line, 12 ft leader to 4 to 5 lb fluoro. Studded boots — the cobble here runs slick.
