How to fish it · for grayling
When
Autumn into late autumn — September through November is prime. Check the FIPSAS regional permit for current grayling season dates.
Where
Faster gravel runs in the middle and lower river. Deeper glide tails as autumn cold pushes fish deeper.
Method
Euro-nymphing primary — Perdigons and small dropper nymphs through the pocket water. Switch to dries when sedges or olives come off in autumn afternoons.
Kit
10 ft #3 nymphing rod, 4 to 5 lb fluoro tippet; 9 ft #4 for dries. 12 ft leader. Studded boots.
Why this works
Good conditions. Temperature is favourable (100), Feeding time is weakest (10).
