About this water

The Tera emerges from Lake Sanabria — Spain's largest natural lake — creating a montane river with reliable year-round base flows. Mixed geology (granite, limestone, slate) produces moderate alkalinity and excellent insect productivity supporting strong wild brown populations. More rugged and remote than Leonese counterparts, genuinely wild yet accessible. Sanabria's influence means stable summer conditions and consistent mayfly (B. rhodani, E. notata) and sedge hatches. The 6-hour spate response creates both blind-prospecting and hatch-matching opportunities. The 68km offers wilderness fishing: small, selective upper reaches; productive middle pools; lower stretches with larger browns and occasional trout.
