The Saja is where Cantabria looks especially interesting for fly-fishing culture rather than just migratory-fish prestige. Joins the Besaya to form a combined estuary concentrating historical salmon runs now better treated as heritage than practical target. The Rudagüera sporting stretch functions as a trout catch-and-release coto on working days with a maximum of 8 anglers per day — exactly the sort of structured fly water that matters. Older official notices also reference the Caranceja coto. Mixed limestone-sandstone geology creates turquoise water when clear. Three SAIH gauge stations enable precise real-time hydro assessment. 6-hour response generates dramatic spates. Sea trout in later season remain more practically meaningful than salmon for most anglers.
