About this water

The Bedón is a diminutive limestone stream — just 12 km of crystal-clear mountain water holding small but eager wild browns (10–20 cm). Ultra-responsive (2 hours to spate), with pools and runs where a 3-weight feels powerful. Mayfly hatches May–June are exceptional; terrestrials work in summer. Accessible from coastal Llanes, uncrowded. A river that teaches streamcraft and observation in a package you can fish in an afternoon.

Under the surface

The Bedión is a slate-fed tributary arriving into the Dobra network. The river is smaller, steep, and spate-responsive throughout its course. The upper reaches show pure slate character in step-pool confines; the descent is rapid and the water amber-toned throughout. The Bedión's technical simplicity is its defining feature — step-pool or briefly interrupted riffle, responding immediately to Cantabrian rainfall. The pools available are secondary to the river's main character, which is responsive descent. The wading demands care throughout; the insecure slate slabs and the rapid current require commitment.
