How to fish it · for grayling
When
August through September is prime. Trysil's grayling fish well to the late-summer hatches; mid-day rises in cooler weather.
Where
Gravel runs and the heads of riffles through the Trysil valley. Smaller-scale than Glomma — read each pocket carefully.
Method
Dry to risers with sedges and olives. Euro-nymphing through deeper pockets when fish aren't up. Long fine tippet for the clear Trysil water.
Kit
9 to 10 ft #4 for dries; 10 ft #3 nymphing rod for the deep pockets. Floating line, 12 ft leader to 4 to 5 lb fluoro tippet.
