About this water

Not to be confused with the Lancashire Lune. This is the small Teesdale Lune — rising on the high moor above Lunehead, dammed at Selset and Grassholme reservoirs, and dropping the last few miles into the Tees near Mickleton. Trout, grayling, the rare chance of a Tees salmon working up. The Darlington Brown Trout AA holds about a mile of north-bank water between the reservoir holding pool and the Lune mouth — day-ticket on the Fishing Passport. Adventurous fly fishing and worming. The water is small and gravelly; carry a wading staff and watch the levels after rain.
