When
Through the Icelandic season — late May into October. The Laxá í Mývatnssveit is the Mývatn outflow and continues as the famous Big Laxá (Aðaldal) downstream. Dry-fly water of the highest order.
Where
Open glides and pool tails through the Mývatnssveit reaches. The river is wide and wadeable; sight fishing is the daily default in clear water.
Method
Dry to spotted rising fish; long fine leader. The water is gin-clear and the fish are selective — fly choice matters less than approach. Move slowly upstream, place one cast, accept the result.
