Kuusamo region in north-eastern Finland — a cluster of clear, cold rivers running through Oulanka National Park and surrounding boreal forest. Kitkajoki, Kuusinkijoki and Oulankajoki offer genuine wild trout and grayling fishing in pristine subarctic landscape. Rapids, pools and long glides over mixed geology. Metsähallitus (state forest agency) manages permits for these waters. Short but intense summer season.
