The Aughrim River forms below the confluence of the Ow and the Derry Water at Aughrim village in south Wicklow, then runs south-east through farmland and broken woodland to meet the Avonmore at Woodenbridge — where the joined waters become the Avoca. Short, intimate, often heavily overgrown in summer. Wild brown trout throughout. The Aughrim & District Trout Angling & Conservation Club holds the rights here and on both headwater tributaries; the three waters are ticketed together but kept named and walked separately, in the way of small Irish rivers everywhere.
