About this water

A short Ulla tributary crossing the Camino de Santiago at Melide, where the medieval bridge still carries pilgrims. The Furelos is wadable wild brown trout water — small, mostly intimate, with classic Galician granite-freestone pool-riffle structure. A good half-day diversion from the Ulla, especially when the bigger river is too high after rain.

Hatches & food

In Galicia's Atlantic trout rivers, resident browns feed through a spring build-up of olives and other up-wings into a long summer of caddis and small buzzers, with frequent spates and cool water keeping fish active; terrestrials from lush banks and meadows become important once levels settle and the banks green up.
