A cross-border river running through the Valle de Carranza on the Cantabria-Bizkaia boundary, joining the Asón near Ramales de la Victoria. The Carranza is granite-and-schist freestone water, with classic pool-riffle structure through the wooded middle reaches of the Valle de Carranza. Wild brown trout only. The gauge sits at Pondra in the Asón system. Best fished from May through June; the river warms quickly in summer.
