About this water

A spring-fed Duero tributary rising at La Fuentona near Muriel de la Fuente. The Abión is one of central Spain's most distinctive trout rivers — limestone karst spring water, clear and cool through summer when surrounding rivers warm. Wild brown trout. The upper reaches around La Fuentona are protected (natural monument) and require careful interpretation of access rules; the middle reaches between Calatañazor and Berlanga offer the most accessible fishing.
