About this water

One of the Midlands' finest mixed game rivers — a beautiful tributary rising in Clun Forest and flowing through Leintwardine, Ludlow, and Tenbury Wells. Alternating pools, glides, and riffles over gravel create diverse fishing. Excellent wild browns, very good grayling, and salmon. The Teme's sedge hatches are legendary (summer evenings with fish crashing into skittered dries); Grannom in April is also exceptional. The Leintwardine and Ludlow stretches particularly prized. One of England's top three grayling rivers. Mostly club water with day tickets available. Atlantic salmon are assessed by the Environment Agency against each river's Conservation Limit — many principal rivers are classed 'at risk' with mandatory catch-and-release byelaws; check current rules before fishing.
