Attractor nymph
Pink Squirrel
TroutSubsurface
A Driftless-country bead-head nymph — squirrel dubbing, pearl rib and a hot pink collar. Not an imitation of anything in particular, just a fish-catcher that limestone-creek browns refuse to leave alone.
Fish this when
Searching spring-creek and freestone runs under an indicator or on a Euro rig when no hatch is showing. The pink collar earns its keep in slightly stained water.
Why it works
The pink hot-spot is a focal trigger against the drab squirrel body — the fish keys on the contrast point, not the whole fly.
