Emerger
Hatching Duckfly
Duckfly emerger
TroutFilm
The point fly of the Irish duckfly team. Fished in and just under the film through the emergence, when trout are taking the pupa hanging in the surface rather than the adult sitting on top of it.
Fish this when
Sheltered bays with weed in 4–12 ft, mid-March into April, while the duckfly is actually coming off.
Why it works
During the emergence the pupa hanging in the film is far more available than the adult, and far harder for a trout to refuse. Sizes 12–14 match the natural.
Naturals it imitates
