Nymph
Creeper Nymph
Cold-water point fly
Trout · GraylingDeep
The cased-caddis 'creeper' crawling on the bed — a weighted point-fly for cold-water nymphing when nothing is hatching.
Fish this when
In cold water with no hatch showing, fished as the heavy point fly in a nymphing team to get the whole leader down to the bed.
Why it works
As a genuinely heavy anchor fly it does double duty — sinking the cast and giving a bottom-hugging silhouette to fish that are feeding almost entirely on the riverbed.
