Blob
A ball of fritz marabou with no pretence of imitating anything that has ever lived. Strip it fast to provoke a predatory lunge, or hang it on the washing line to bob suggestively at depth. Reservoir trout either love it or ignore it — mostly they love it, which is why competition anglers keep three colours in their box at all times.
Spring, autumn and winter on reservoirs and stocked stillwaters. Fish it pulled, hung on the washing line, or slowed right down when trout are following but not committing.
Oversized profile, colour and movement provoke takes from stocked and competitive stillwater trout. It can suggest food, but its real strength is triggering aggression and curiosity.
Starting points, not rules — depth, presentation and size usually matter more.
Sunburst, coral and orange are common searching colours, especially for active or recently stocked trout. Try black or claret under heavy cloud, and biscuit, peach or pale pink in clearer water or once fish have seen a lot of bright Blobs. A two-tone pattern is worth trying when no single colour is working.
