Backed by regional invertebrate surveys; no sampling on this exact reach yet.
Numbers are intensity 0 (none) to 3 (peak) — a guide, not a guarantee.
The Deveron is the most beat-rich river in this north-east tranche — a 96 km / 61-mile salmon, sea-trout and brown-trout system, fifth in Scotland for annual fish caught and famous as the holder of the UK record fly-caught salmon (61 lb, Mrs Clementina 'Tiny' Morison, 1924). But the tone stays sober: the board remains extremely concerned about fragile stocks, particularly spring salmon and sea trout, and Project Deveron is a 10-year habitat-restoration programme launched in 2023. Access runs from FishPal and estate beats through the Turriff–Huntly corridor to lower-river water near Banff, with the Bogie and Isla tributaries as habitat-and-context water. Brown trout are a real lane here, not an afterthought. Confirm season, method and conservation rules with the individual beat before booking.
