At about 2,160 metres Zürsersee is the highest lake you can fish around Lech Zürs, and it looks it: a small, cold tarn under the Seekopf that spends much of the year frozen and the rest of it being admired by hikers. The cable car does most of the climbing for you. Char and lake trout live here, and the season is squeezed into late June to early October. You fish from the shore — not from the floating jetty, which belongs to the walkers — and it is not a fly-only water. Weather at this height changes its mind quickly, so treat any fine afternoon as a gift and have a layer in the bag.
