About this water

Slovakia's longest river and one of its most important fly-fishing systems. The upper Váh through Liptov and around Ružomberok is the prime salmonid section—brown trout and grayling in clear submontane water with good wading access. A 2017 World Championship venue. Some waters run under catch-and-release rules with barbless requirements. Technical nymphing and dry-fly fishing in the heart of the Czech-Slovak competition nymphing tradition.
