About this water

Stora Kroksjön sits inside Kroksjöns naturreservat (Natura 2000, part of the Risveden wilderness), so nature-reserve rules apply on top of the shared Abborresjöns fiskevårdsområde day-ticket with Böljesjön, Abborresjön and Ottersjön. Fly fishing and traditional spin are permitted (no bombarda or plastic floats). Alongside stocked rainbow trout the lake holds a small population of mountain char (fjällröding) and a small stock of stationary wild brown trout — all char and trout must be released. A nutrient-poor forest lake, 20.6m deep, ringed mostly by shallow shores, with four wind shelters and fireplaces around it for overnighting.
