A short but historically important Ulla tributary running south from Santiago de Compostela through Brión and Padrón to join the parent river just above the Arousa estuary. The Sar carries the name of Rosalía de Castro's poetry collection — "Follas Novas" — and is one of Galicia's classic sea-trout systems despite its modest length. Granite freestone water with lowland sections in the middle reaches. Reo run into the lower river around Padrón from July onwards.
