About this water

The Aluminé drains its namesake lake through classic freestone water — faster, rockier and noticeably wilder than its neighbours to the east, running through steppe and scattered pehuén forest towards the Collón Curá system. Riffles and broken pocket water give browns and rainbows plenty of cover, and a Stimulator or Foam Beetle worked along seams and current breaks will draw fish up through the faster sections. It's public water with a strong local following rather than a lodge-controlled fishery, so a bit of legwork around access points is rewarded. Salmonids are strict catch-and-release on single barbless hooks under current regulation, though other methods are permitted for coarser species — worth remembering if you're sharing a beat with spin anglers. Wading is more physical here than on the gentler rivers nearby.
