River Orchy
A scenic west-coast / Argyll spate salmon river feeding the Loch Awe system, where timing and water height matter. Early salmon reach the Orchy in late May, with July to October the stronger period. Conservation messaging is prominent here: 100% catch-and-release for salmon, grilse and sea trout across all beats for the entire season.

11 February – 31 October
Early-running salmon reach the Orchy in late May; best months July-October. 100% catch-and-release for salmon, grilse and sea trout for the whole season, all beats. Fly and spinner permitted; worm, shrimp and prawn generally not allowed (method rules are beat-specific — FishPal's Craig beat allows worm subject to restrictions, so check permit conditions). No salmon fishing on Sundays.
Tactical notes
A flashy west-coast spate river — fish it on a falling level after rain. First realistic salmon arrive late May; the river comes into its own July-October. Carry a net, return everything, and check each beat's method rules (shrimp/prawn and natural minnow are widely prohibited; worm is beat-specific).
