River Awe
The short but powerful outflow from Loch Awe towards Loch Etive — a barrage- and hydro-influenced salmon river that can still produce large fish. Treat it as distinct from the Loch Awe trout/pike/coarse fishery: a Loch Awe trout or pike permit does NOT cover River Awe salmon or sea trout. Fish enter from April, with the peak of the runs from May to August.

Awe Fishery District. Fish enter from April, peak runs May-August; a fish counter operates at the Barrage. Flow is regulated by the Loch Awe barrage/hydro scheme, so the river does not behave like a natural spate. Follow the Awe District River Improvement Association conservation code and verify current statutory dates and any mandatory-release rule with the controller.
Tactical notes
A short, heavy, regulated river below the Loch Awe barrage — different from a rain-fed spate. Runs build from April and peak May-August. Bigger flies and a sinking-tip suit the volume and pace of water; a fish counter at the Barrage tracks the run. Keep River Awe salmon access separate from Loch Awe (LAIA) permits.
