The upper Neretva is one of the iconic Dinaric limestone rivers — fast, cold, turquoise karst water descending through Herzegovina. Home to the endemic softmouth trout (Salmo obtusirostris), brown trout, grayling, and hucho in the deeper pools. Among the most biodiverse salmonid rivers in Europe.
