Molino de la Horcajada (Lozoya coto)
Named coto on the lower Río Lozoya below the Pinilla reservoir, run by the Sociedad de Pescadores Molino de la Horcajada. Tramo I — roughly 3.5 km — is catch-and-release, fly-only (artificial fly, perdigones, or streamers), all barbless. The dam releases above keep the water cooler than the surrounding lowlands well into summer, which is the main reason this stretch fishes through August when most of central Spain is unfishable. Stocking influence is present and pressure varies by weekend, so treat it as a managed Spanish coto rather than wild headwater fishing.
Brown trout (wild + stocked)
April–June and again in September; tailwater character keeps the river fishable later in summer than most central Spanish rivers
Methods
- •Upstream dry fly
- •Euro nymphing
- •Short streamer

2nd Sunday of March – 3rd Sunday of July

Tactical notes
Fish Tramo I as managed coto water: tight presentations, dry-dropper through the pocket water, Euro nymphing through the deeper runs. The Pinilla release keeps the water cool but slows the river's natural rhythm — read the flow rather than the calendar.
Regulations
Comunidad de Madrid licence required. Coto permits issued by the local Sociedad de Pescadores — fly-only, barbless, catch-and-release on Tramo I. Closed Thursdays.
