About this water

The Logan is the antidote to the tailwater crowds — a tumbling limestone-canyon freestone in northern Utah that holds browns, rainbows and, up in the cold headwater reaches, native Bonneville cutthroat that deserve a careful hand and a quick release. It's small-stream fishing the way it's meant to be: dry-dropper through the pockets, attractors the fish actually come up for, careful wading on a bouldery bed. The canyon access is easy off the highway. Spring runoff colours it for a while; once it drops and clears, late spring through autumn, it's a lovely, uncomplicated river that reminds you not every good day needs a famous name on it.
