The Dungarvon is a tributary of the Renous, joining that river in the wooded interior of New Brunswick before the combined flow reaches the Southwest Miramichi near Blackville. Dark-water river over sandstone and gravel, the classic Miramichi tributary character. Grilse run from late June, with fresh fish arriving through July and August; multi-sea-winter salmon appear in September and October when the water cools. The Dungarvon is intimate water by Miramichi standards — the kind of river where a floating line and a small wet fly fished across the pool tails is the right beginning.
