The Mörrum is not a walk-up river. Sweden's allemansrätten (right of public access) lets you walk the banks, but it does not include the right to fish — fishing rights here are owned and managed, and you fish only with the right permit (fiskekort) for the water you stand on. The bulk of the famous water is run as one operator-managed fishery, Mörrum Kronolaxfiske, by the state forestry company Sveaskog: a numbered pool-and-permit system on the lower seven kilometres, sold by licence type and date-map, fished between 05:00 and 24:00, with mandatory catch registration. Different maps apply for the summer, specimen-identification and specimen-angling periods, and all fish are released under the current catch-and-release regime — there is no day-ticket free-for-all.
