How to fish it · for Lake Trout
When
Cooling water temperatures (10–14°C) bring Seeforelle into shallow margins and mid-water. This is the best fly-fishing window — fish are aggressive, accessible, and taking large streamers confidently. Spawning fish (late October onward) should not be targeted.
Where
Seeforelle are feeding hard before the spawn and positioned in the upper 5m at dawn and dusk. Intermediate line with streamer or large nymph. Fish near drop-offs and rocky points where Renken congregate.
The plan
Plan A

Seeforelle are feeding hard before the spawn and positioned in the upper 5m at dawn and dusk. Intermediate line with streamer or large nymph. Fish near drop-offs and rocky points where Renken congregate.

Plan B

If the main plan is not working, switch to a smaller, more imitative pattern fished slower and deeper. A change of drift angle can also make a difference.

Watch for

Keep an eye on changing conditions — wind shifts and cloud breaks can trigger short feeding spells.

Either bank or boat

Calm evenings can fish well from bank or boat — target rising fish wherever you find them.
