How fish feed on it

The grouse wing, and the stillwater angler's late-summer evening. It hatches through the afternoon but flies at dusk, when the swarms over big lakes in settled weather get genuinely dense — long antennae, jinking flight, and fish smashing at them in the last of the light. Settled weather is the condition to watch: an unsettled evening produces very little.
