Orange, black, and yellow jungle cock—one of the oldest salmon flies still in regular use, and one of the very few fully-dressed patterns that guides on great Irish and Norwegian rivers still put on. It catches fish.

Fish this when

Spring through autumn on any Atlantic salmon river. Traditional choice on Irish spate rivers after a flood has dropped to fishable level.

Why it works

Orange and black create contrast that salmon have responded to for 180 years. Jungle cock sides are a recognised trigger. The pattern carries evidence of generations of catches.
