Green Drake (Irish mayfly dry)

TroutSurface

A large, bushy upwing dry for the Corrib and Mask mayfly season — the two weeks in late May when Irish brown trout briefly abandon all caution and crash hatching mayflies with a directness that surprises everyone who hasn't seen it before. This is not delicate fishing.

Fish this when

Late May and June on the Connacht loughs when the hatch is up. Fish cruising the surface, taking duns within easy reach of the boat. Cast ahead of a cruising fish and leave it.
