Fish this when
Pressured steelhead and trout in clear water, and through the sucker spawn in spring. Dead-drift near the bottom; its muted cluster profile scores when single bright eggs are refused.
Why it works
Suckers and baitfish broadcast clusters of small pale eggs that drift in loose ribbons. The looped-yarn profile imitates that cluster better than a single round egg, and its soft, washed-out colour is less alarming to fish grown wary of bright roe.
